Toy Hauler Trailers

Friday, October 15th, 2010

There is no better way to escape the stress of everyday life than to load up your toys and head for the great outdoors!  And what better way to do that than in an ATC and Motiv toy hauler trailer?  Our premium quality toy haulers will maximize your adventure, no matter what type of toy you choose to haul.  ATV’s, jeeps, dune buggies, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and more – bring it on!  We promise we’ll step up to the plate, no matter how heavy the cargo or rugged the terrain.

We offer a t1 and t2 toy hauler package on both our ATC all-aluminum frame and our Motiv steel platform.  Plus, you can put the package on our motorcycle model for a smaller toy hauler, or our car hauler models for a bigger cargo area.  And best of all, if you want to add some extras, or tweak the floorplan to meet your specific needs – it’s no problem!  We at ATC and Motiv pride ourselves on the fact that we rarely build the same trailer twice.  Our top priority is to design your trailer EXACTLY how you want it, with the high quality you demand.

Our t1 toy hauler trailers offer a flat-front design, with toilet, shower, and kitchenette complete with refrigerator, cooktop, and microwate.  The compact design keeps your trailer easy to handle while maximizing your cargo space.  If you want to enlarge the living quarter area, the t2 toy hauler is the perfect choice.  This floorplan is based on a 4’ wedge nose design, with the bathroom up front for a bit more space.  The t2 package also adds a wardrobe and linen closet, optional TV package, and more counter space in the kitchenette.  Of course, with both toy hauler packages we offer unlimited options in both your living area and your garage.  So let ATC and Motiv toy hauler trailers help you escape and extend your adventure in the great outdoors…you owe it to yourself!

Car Trailers

ATC builds the only all aluminum frame car trailer in the country.  Other manufactures add steel reinforcements on their race trailers.  Not ATC.  We build our car trailer with a perimeter tube frame, tube side walls on 16” centers, and a sturdy 1”x 3” tube roof structure also on 16” centers.  This type of construction is what allows ATC to build one of the strongest and lightest car trailers in the industry.

The options available on an ATC car trailer are almost endless.  You can purchase a trailer without any options.  Standard features include a spring assisted rear ramp door, 36” side door, and 4 d rings.  Drive in, strap your car down and you are ready to go.

The list of car trailer options is nearly endless.  Many ATC car trailers are built with a list options that totally deck out the trailer.  Finished aluminum walls, floor coverings, 12 volt and 110 volt electrical packages,  cabinets, and air conditioning and heat.  Cool looking and comfortable, car trailers are now design to deliver you and your car in style.

The next time you are at the track take a look in the pit.  You will be amazed at the variations in the car trailers.  From the most basic open car trailer that just gets the car from home to the track to the most elaborate trailer that includes a full blown living quarters.  Car trailers and options vary.  One thing that stays constant is ATC industry leading quality.

Check out an ATC car trailer today.  You will be glad you did!

Race Car Haulers

Before I started working at The Aluminum Trailer Company six years ago, I couldn’t tell you the difference between one car hauler and another. I’m not even sure I could tell you what a car hauler was! What a difference six years makes. Not only have I gained an appreciation for the car hauler, I am convinced that ATC and Motiv trailers builds the best car haulers in the market today. This is especially true for the racing circuit. Our company has been around for a little over 10 years now. We have spent that time not only perfecting our aluminum framed trailers, but also listening to what our customers were asking of us. The result of this pursuit of the ultimate race car hauler is our Quest series (both gooseneck and tag) in ATC, our RSX series (both gooseneck and tag) in Motiv and our signature stacker series in both companies.

We feel that in terms of quality, fit and finish and value, our car haulers are the industry leaders. The great thing about ATC and Motiv trailers is no matter if you are looking for a unit you can pick up right off a dealers lot of you have exact specifications you need to meet, we can build your trailer. We sure have grown up a fair bit since the first race car hauler we built and showed down in Daytona back in February of 2000.  I’ll be honest, that first ATC race car hauler trip to Daytona was a struggle.  Some of the top trim came off on my way down to Florida and my dad and I spent the better part of a day looking for it along the highway.  Somehow, by the grace of God, we found it!  We popped it back on and continued on the show.  To say we were a bit “green” in the race car hauler business would be quite an understatement.

I’m happy to say over the past 11 years we have done a lot of growing up and we have learned a tremendous amount from our customers and dealers.  We now find ourselves deep into the race car hauler business with an overflowing list of satisfied customers.  We thank all of you who helped us get here and have had a part in our success.

While we have learned a lot and enjoyed some success over the years, part of being a great company is never getting complacent.  I’m happy to say that we are continuing to grow and improve our race car haulers.  We invite you to see the new product launch at this years PRI (Performance Racing Industry) show in Orlando Florida.  We promise you will not be disappointed with the new look and features in our ATC and Motiv race car haulers.

Gooseneck Trailers

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

The next time you are at the race track, or for that matter just driving down the road, check out the number of trailers you see.  Then check out the number of gooseneck style versus tag trailers.  Goosenecks trailers will probably out number the tag models two to one.  There are a number of reasons you see so many goosenecks.   Let me tell you about a few.

If you are looking for the best and easiest way to trailer your cargo you want to make sure you checkout a gooseneck trailer.  Gooseneck trailers provide the maximum in payload capacity as well as providing a great ride down the road.  The design of the “gooseneck” allows for more weight to be transferred to the tow vehicle.  The terms gooseneck refers to the part of the trailer that essentially sits on top of the pick up truck or tow vehicle. With this design the front of the gooseneck trailer rides farther forward on the truck and allows more of the weight to be transferred to both axles on the tow vehicle.

This additional weight transfer can be very beneficial.  With the gooseneck design approximately 20 percent of the trailer weight is transferred to the tow vehicle.  When you compare this to 10 percent on a “tag “ trailer, the weight transfer can become rather substantial, allowing you to haul more payload.

Because more of the weight is transferred to the tow vehicle with a gooseneck the drivability of the truck and trailer combination becomes much easier.  Simple put, you don’t have all of the trailer weight riding on the very end of your tow vehicle hitch.  In some cases tag trailers can tow poorly.   With the weight resting over the axles of the truck, towing a gooseneck trailer is much smoother

Race Trailers

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Over the last 20 year the race trailer market has changed dramatically.  Back in the early 1990’s most of the race trailers were rather basic and served one purpose.  That purpose was to get a race car from point a to point b.  When you compare today’s race trailer with the race trailer of the 90’s the changes have been amazing. Current race trailers still serve a basic purpose, getting a race car from point a to point b.  However, the style in which it is done has changed by leaps and bounds.

Race trailers now have as many options in the as you can think of, not just the basics.  Todays race trailers come with complete electrical packages and full cabinet packages.  The interior of many race trailers is as nicely equipped as many homes or offices.  The interior of race trailers include aluminum walls, vinyl floors, carpet and air conditioning.

Since race trailers often sit at the race track all weekend long many are now equipped with bath rooms or even full blown living quarters!  These packages include all the luxury of a fine hotel room.  You can have your T.V.; surround sound, gas grill, inside and outside shower, and even a washer and dryer.

Race trailers have come a long way over the last 20 years.  If you are in the market for a state of the art race trailer, check out ATC and Motiv.  We build the highest quality race trailers on the planet.

Race Car Haulers

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Sometimes our prospective new dealers ask us about the best ways to sell our aluminum race car haulers.  We have found out that just throwing a billboard up at the local race track or taking out a shiny new ad in next weeks motorsports periodical just may not be the best way to reach our customer.  The best way to get race car hauler sales for Motiv or ATC Trailers is to take our trailers out to the track and show people.

Yeah magazine ads looks good and billboards catch a lot of eyes, but what helps ATC / Motiv Trailers win is showing customers face-to-face why our trailers are better.   Our fit-and-finish is second to none, our full perimeter tube frame cannot be beat, and how about a true and fair warranty that we actually pay in less than 30 days (try getting that from the other guys out there).

ATC and Motiv Race car haulers aren’t just better, we are competitively priced too.  I’m not going to say that our price isn’t important, but no where in our sales pitch is price our primary selling point.  Our race car haulers sell because they are the best ones out there… any yes we are competitively priced.

Go to our dealer locater or check us out at the track next weekend and you’ll see why seeing is believing!

The Aluminum Trailer Company and Motiv Trailers offer a wide range of trailers from open car haulers all the way to stackers and living quarters.  One of our best selling trailers however is our all aluminum Quest gooseneck and our steel RSX gooseneck.  The versatility of these trailers is unmatched!  Since we custom build all of our trailers you are able to choose the length, width, height and axle configuration of your choice to better match your needs.  A new feature that we have added to our gooseneck and tag trailers are the super spread axle design which is not only visually appealing but fixing the problem of not wanting to pull a triple axle trailer.  Below is a picture of our last super spread axle design, check it out for yourself!

Gooseneck Trailers

If you have a high volume of cargo and are looking for a safe, secure way to transport it, look no further than ATC and Motiv gooseneck trailers.  Many customers want to know what is the longest bumper pull trailer that we can build.  We have built up to 34′ long bumper pull trailers, but strongly recommend switching over to a gooseneck of fifth wheel trailer for this size.  Because of the hitching mechanism and the location of the weight on the tow vehicle, large trailers are much safer when designed with a gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch.

Another big benefit to gooseneck trailers is the additional enclosed storage space above the bed of the truck.  Many customers use this enclosed space as a safe place to keep valuable cargo and protect it from the elements.  Access doors are often used on either the driver side of the trailer or on passenger side of the trailer to allow easy access to this area.  We generally do not recommend adding cargo doors on the front of the trailer due to potential leak hazard.

ATC and Motiv offers a full line of gooseneck trailers for general storage or complete with full living accommodations.  Check out more information about our innovative line of gooseneck trailers at www.aluminumtrailer.com.  Thanks for your interest in ATC and Motiv Trailers!

Smooth Riding Goosenecks

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Back in the day before kids, my wife and I used to deliver trailers on a semi-regular basis.  We had always delivered bumper pull trailers, but my wife quickly got tired of the truck rocking up and down as we went over the bumps in the road.  One day I brought my carsick-prone wife along as I delivered a gooseneck trailer and the whole world changed in her eyes.  With a gooseneck trailer the cab of the truck rode smooth and straight and didn’t buck up and down over the bumps.

So why is it that a gooseneck trailer pulls so much smoother than a typical tag trailer?  With a gooseneck trailer the weight of the trailer is distributed directly over the rear axle of the truck.  The truck suspension is then able to carry the weight of the trailer without bouncing the frame of the truck (and the cab) all over the road.  In a typical bumper pull trailer, the weight of the trailer resides about four feet behind the rear axle of the truck.  When the truck and trailer hit the all-to-common bumps in the road, the suspension of the rear axle can only absorb so much form such a great distance away.

Now, don’t get me wrong, our ATC and Motiv bumper pull trailers pull very well, but when you compare a 30′ tag trailer to a 38′ gooseneck trailer, it just isn’t a fair comparison.  The 38′ gooseneck trailer will pull smoother every day of the week.  Why not look at some of our gooseneck trailers now!

All Aluminum Gooseneck Trailers

Monday, February 9th, 2009

The Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) has been building an all aluminum gooseneck trailers since early 2001. ATC is the only company that builds an all aluminum frame on a gooseneck trailers. Most manufactures add steel reinforcements to the axle area or the gooseneck area. These areas tend to take the bulk of the stress on gooseneck trailers.

Because ATC has designed its gooseneck trailer with a full perimeter frame our gooseneck trailer is strong enough to handle your biggest load without the need for steel reinforcements. This unique design allows ATC to build one of the lightest gooseneck trailers in the industry. ATC’s perimeter frame gooseneck design differs from our competitors design in that our sub frames strength comes from our tube frame that runs all the way to the outside of our sub frame. Not like most gooseneck trailers that rely on a frame the includes outriggers to support their side walls.

ATC builds gooseneck trailers in lengths from 32’ up to 53’. ATC’s gooseneck trailers inside heights come with a standard height of 7’ but can be built with an interior height of up to 11’. The standard width on an ATC gooseneck trailer is 97 ¾”. The overall width of our standard gooseneck trailer is 102” from fender to fender.

ATC builds gooseneck trailers for a wide variety of uses. We can custom design a trailer to fit almost any need. Our gooseneck trailers have been used as mobile salmon tagging labs, race car hauling trailers, living quarters, bunk houses, vending trailers to name only a few.

Buy an ATC gooseneck trailer today! You will be glad you did.

Why a Gooseneck Trailers instead of a Bumper Hitch Trailers?

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

There are many opinions on which is better. You can simply search Google to see thousands of results. However, I want to highlight a few things to consider when looking at a goose neck trailer. Gooseneck trailers:

  • Eliminate Sway and fishtailing
  • Increase storage capacity
  • Increase load capacity
  • Provide Easier mobility
  • Are more secure

While these benifits are nice, there are a few drawbacks to gooseneck trailers. They include:

  • Gooseneck trailers generally are more expensive
  • Your “start up” cost may be higher if you are not already setup with a gooseneck hitch
  • Some feel that connecting to a gooseneck trailer can be more difficult as you have to climb in the bed of your truck to complete the hookup process
  • You lose some of your truck bed storage.

If your interested in more information on gooseneck trailers visit our gooseneck trailer page. Don’t have a gooseneck or don’t think you would like to use one? Visit our bumper pulled trailers to see what we can build for you!
