Pack your bags, and load your hogs… its time for a road trip. Chance are if you are going to Daytona or Sturgis you will be in good company with your ATC or Motiv motorcycle trailer. I’m always pleasantly surprised at how many ATC and Motiv motorcycle trailers I see at the national rallies. I guess what they say is true, motorcycle guys and gals really do appreciate and recognize precision craftsmanship.
Yeah, there certainly are manufactures out there that sell motorcycle trailers for less, but many of them dip well below the acceptable threshold of quality. I’m all for a good price, but some of these trailers are bordering on ridiculous. The key to ATC and Motiv success in the motorcycle trailer market is focusing on value.

Our perimeter frame aluminum motorcycle trailer design differs from our competitors design in that our sub frames strength comes from our tube frame which runs all the way to the outside of our sub frame. Not like most motorcycle trailers that rely on a frame that includes outriggers to support their side walls.

Over the last 20 year the race trailer market has changed dramatically. Back in the early 1990’s most of the race trailers were rather basic and served one purpose. That purpose was to get a race car from point a to point b. When you compare today’s race trailer with the race trailer of the 90’s the changes have been amazing. Current race trailers still serve a basic purpose, getting a race car from point a to point b. However, the style in which it is done has changed by leaps and bounds.
Race trailers now have as many options in the as you can think of, not just the basics. Todays race trailers come with complete electrical packages and full cabinet packages. The interior of many race trailers is as nicely equipped as many homes or offices. The interior of race trailers include aluminum walls, vinyl floors, carpet and air conditioning.
Since race trailers often sit at the race track all weekend long many are now equipped with bath rooms or even full blown living quarters! These packages include all the luxury of a fine hotel room. You can have your T.V.; surround sound, gas grill, inside and outside shower, and even a washer and dryer.

One of my favorite things about blogging is highlighting past projects where we have completely exceeded a customers expectations. A few years back we were asked to build a highline aluminum gooseneck trailer for a guy up in the Toronto area. As I learned more and more about the project, I began to understand that he didn’t want just any aluminum gooseneck trailer, he wanted the best aluminum gooseneck trailer ever built.
This aluminum gooseneck trailer was going to be used for his snowmobiles in the winter and his ATV’s and motorcycles in the summer. The trailer was designed and built with a full living quarter and bathroom design. One important feature of the project was that the customer wanted private sleeping quarters for six people.
What came out of our engineering department was a 46’ gooseneck stacker complete with two slide outs, custom attic bedroom, Amish–made hardwood cabinetry, custom submerged bathroom layout, and a stacker lift system layout that was capable of housing up to 6 snowmobiles and loads of gear.
Arguably, this may have been the best aluminum gooseneck trailer we have ever built. Check out these images!

It seems that most people are familiar with ATC and Motiv’s outstanding custom trailer capacities, and of course our ability to build a knock-out race car trailer is common knowledge in the industry. 2007 Daytona Bike Week was a huge success. This might possibly be the best retail show I have ever experienced. There is little doubt that overall attendance was down over past years, but this certainly didn’t slow down the sales of trailers.
I believe the exceptional quality of the trailers is what has driven the companies success. Time and time again people are simply floored when they see their first Motiv Trailer. People have become complacent in accepting subpar quality from the “run of the mill” trailer builders out there. Motiv has and always will remain true to building a trailer that exceeds the expectations of even the most discriminating buyer.
If you weren’t able to make it down to Daytona Bike Week you can also catch us at the Panama City Thunder Beach Spring Rally May 3-6. This is always a biker favorite with the Gulf shores and pristine beaches just a stones throw from the rally.
