Living Quarter Trailers

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Over the years ATC has developed several Living quarters trailer packages.  We now offer a 12’ and 14’ (with slide out) living quarter package for gooseneck and fifth wheel trailers and various bathroom packages for the bumper pull trailers. The Living quarter trailer package is shown on our website at http://www.aluminumtrailer.com/living%20quarters   For example lets look at the 12’ Living quarter package.  It is a spacious set up that sleeps four.  Full amenities are included.

ATC living quarter trailers are not the typical RV toy hauler you are probably used to seeing.  We start with a custom car hauler frame then add your living quarter.  Our wood cabinets are real oak or maple or cherry, built in our own cabinet shop.  If you want actual corian countertops in your living quarters we can do that as well.  This is just the beginning. If you need a garage to meet your custom specs or needs we will help you get what you want as well. Please give us a call to discuss your next or first living quarter trailer.

Advantech Floor in ATC and Motiv Trailers

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Every once in a while we get customers asking us why we use Advantech floors in our trailers… Here’s the scoop.

There really is only one downside to Advantech and that is that customers sometimes initially think it is just cheap chipboard and we are cutting corners to save cost.  A simple look into Advantech proves otherwise.

The true facts are that Advantech was created by Huber Woods out Charlotte, North Carolina for the housing industry.  They created this board because housing contractors were complaining that the standard plywood sub floors on their houses were delaminating when it sat unprotected in the snow, sleet and rain.  Huber woods created Advantech to withstand the moisture that was destroying the plywood subfloors.  Advantech is a manufactured wood board but it is different than any other OSB on the market.  It is made with non-water soluble glue and it is compressed with 4 times the pressure than that of a normal OSB.  If you look at the board close up you will clearly see the difference between this board and any other OSB.

Advantech is used exclusively in our snowmobile trailers and it works better than any other product.  The snow comes and melts but it does not penetrate the board.  All you have to do is simply sweep the water out of the trailer.  Due to the density of the board it also does well holding up against the sharp snowmobile carbides.  With a plywood floor, you need to change the plywood every few years because the carbides tear the plywood to sheds.  With Advantech the carbides will scratch and mar the surface, but it will not penetrate the board.  We’ve seen many “well seasoned” snowmobile trailers come in with noting more than scratches on the floor… nothing like a plywood floor.

Another huge benefit Advantech provides is in on our wide body car haulers.  Advantech can be ordered in any width we want, whereas plywood can only be ordered in at 96″ wide.  On a 102″ wide body trailer that means that there has to be a silly 3” plywood seam the entire length of there trailer.  With Advantech we order our boards in at 99″ wide so it PERFECTLY fits into a wide body frame design.

Living Quarter Trailers

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Living quarter trailers take some unique capabilities to build the right way.  Here at ATC I wouldn’t say that we specialize in living quarter trailers but we do a good job in building them.  Our living quarter trailers don’t really compare to an RV or Travel trailer in either price or design.  Our living quarter trailers usually are highly customized and serve multiple purposes.  Our living quarter trailers can be added to most of our models to make a very unique product that meets a living quarter trailer customers needs.  Living quarter trailers can be slapped together in a way that gives the appearance of a finished livable unit but then have nothing beneath the surface that will satisfy the customer over the long haul.   We have our own custom wood cabinet shop where we make high quality cabinets for our living quarter trailers.  Our living quarter trailers also can be outfitted with aluminum racing cabinets in place of wood as well.  Living quarter trailers also take a special kind of worker that can do finish work as well as being efficient on time.  To fit all of the things required by a place that you expect to live in into a small space afforded by a living quarter trailer is very difficult.  Living quarter trailers become even more difficult to build when they are customized.  We have been building living quarter trailers for about 5 years now and have done pretty well.

The Aluminum Trailer Company(ATC) is the premium manufacturer of enclosed cargo, specialty,  and auto trailers.  More and more trailer users are turning to ATC as our reputation for the highest quality continues to grow through out the trailer industry.

The Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC has been building trailers since 1999. ATC is located in Nappanee, Indiana, the heart of Amish country.  The company founders recognized the quality work force that was available in this area of northern Indiana and knew this was the place to build with unsurpassed quality.

ATC builds the only all aluminum frame trailer in the country.  Other manufactures add steel reinforcements on their race trailers.  Not ATC.  We build our trailer with a perimeter tube frame, tube side walls on 16” centers, and a sturdy 1”x 3” tube roof structure also on 16” centers.  This type of construction is what allows ATC to build one of the strongest and lightest trailers in the industry.

With ATC you can have it your way! We offer trailer sizes ranging from 5′ wide x 8′ long all the way up to 8.5′ wide x 53′ in length. No matter what your need may be, we can build a trailer that’s perfect for the job. You can customize any trailer to your personal taste thanks to thousands of options and custom options department.  ATC offers an amazing list of options for you to add to your trailer and over 13 different exterior colors

Owning the best costs little more than the other brands. Value is not just the purchase price, but rather what your trailer will cost you to own and operate over the long haul. The superior construction, attention-to-detail, expert and prompt customer service, and a higher resale price at trade-in time all equals more value for your dollar.

Bunk Trailers

Friday, July 16th, 2010

When you were growing up did you have to share a room with any of your siblings? If so, did you share a bed or did you have bunk beds? I don’t know how long bunk beds have been around or just when someone decided to save space by stacking two twin beds, but it sure was a lot of fun growing up and having them. There always seemed to be a fight over who took the bottom bunk. For convenience it was certainly the best choice, but the top was always a lot more fun.

Anyway the reason I’ve been thinking about bunk beds is that now they are in trailers. Bunk trailers to be specific. What do I mean, and why is that important? Well it not often that something you do for a living actually ends up doing a lot of good. I build trailers for a living (www.aluminumtrailer.com) and in this case we built bunk trailers. Five of them, if you want to be precise. They had 11 bunks to sleep up to 22 people. Now why or when would you need that kind of accommodations?

That’s were the doing good part come into play. As I’m sure you are aware the first thing you need when you have a natural disaster or even a local emergency is help. But where does the help sleep if there are no hotels functioning or if local houses are destroyed? Voila! The bunk trailer. Our bunk trailers have seen a lot of use in a lot of emergencies helping a lot of people. And well that makes me appreciate what I do. I’m not sure you’ll ever need one, but if you do please check us out. Thanks and Happy Trailering!

Bathroom Trailers

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Did you ever have a time when you just had to go? Go? You know what I mean especially if you’re over 40 or decided to have just a little too much coffee that morning. Anyway, what do you do when you have to go and there is no bathroom in sight? Or maybe you have a phobia regarding those port-a-potties at major outdoor events. You know the ones that seemed like they have not been cleaned for at least two months, or that some little kid was just not quite tall enough to reach all the way, and the seat is wet and it’s not water!!

Well I can’t help everyone but if you’re at a race event, or crafts fair, or boy scout jamboree, or even on the job as a landscaper then I every well can help. You see if you are at those events and you are one of the vendors or participants then you more than likely have trailer that you hauled everything to your event. The next step is easy. Add a bathroom to your next trailer purchase. Bathroom trailers are probably the best idea, since well the trailer itself.

You have all the convenience and privacy, and none of the worries (well you do have to dump the tank occasionally). It is truly the last piece of your trailer. Why am I talking about bathroom trailers? Well I just happen to build them. Check us out at www.aluminumtrailer.com. By the way I speak from experience, I’m that guy who always drinks too much coffee in the morning. Happy Trailerin

Enclosed Trailers

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

You could have had an enclosed trailer.  My guess is that many people think they can’t afford an enclosed trailer but have they considered all of the advantages?  First of all what did you spend on the equipment or toys you are transporting.  An enclosed trailer will keep them safe and secure.  Also an enclosed trailer will help keep your investments out of the public eye, I am sure you have heard the saying out of sight out of mind.  With an enclosed trailer you also create mobile storage for your toys. You also now have a mobile garage to work on your toys when you get to your destination.  Motiv and ATC have launched an all new line of inexpensive enclosed trailers called the ravin light series.  You might be surprised how inexpensive it can be to get a quality built enclosed trailer.  Check out our enclosed trailers on our website at www.aluminumtrailer.com

RV trailer

Friday, April 24th, 2009

RV trailers are growing in popularity.  Their versatility as a recreational vehicle for the family and a trailer to haul the family toys, all terrain vehicles, motorcycles or off road bikes makes the RV trailer a perfect purchase for many traveling families.

There are 2 basic types of RV trailer: the garage/cargo area and the living quarters are separated with a hard partition wall or to maximize the utility of the space, the living quarters are incorporated into the garage/cargo area.  This kind of arrangement includes fold away beds, removable tables, and shared cabinet space.  Depending on your RV trailer need will dictate the type best suited for you.

Cargo carrying capacity is the biggest concern in determining the RV trailer to fit your needs.  Living quarter amenities add considerable weight to RV trailers so make sure you have sufficient carrying capacity left to haul your cargo.  Consider purchasing a trailer with higher GVWR than you think you will need.  Be sure your tow vehicle is rated appropriately.

You will also want to make sure the cargo area footprint is large enough for your stuff.  Consider putting all of your cargo as you would like to arrange it on an open space and measure the footprint.  Maximum exterior width for RV trailers is 102″, which equates to approximately 98″ of interior width.  You will need to take into consideration the rear door opening to make sure the cargo will fit.

Finally, think about how you will be using the trailer while at your destination.  Will the vehicles be parked inside when not in use, is there an exterior awning to “expand” the living space?

RV trailers are an economical way to take your toys with you on family vacations.  Consider these few tips before making your purchase.

Bathroom Trailers

Monday, April 20th, 2009

It’s one of those annoying facts of life – sooner or later, everyone has to answer the call of nature.  It’s especially irritating when you’re at the racetrack, or on a job site, where decent facilities aren’t always readily available.  And from a woman’s perspective, let me tell you, it can be REALLY tough to find an acceptable place to take care of business!  And don’t even get me started on the long lines you typically have to wait in.

That’s why ATC and Motiv Trailers offer a great variety of bathroom trailers to choose from!  You can have a clean, private place to use the restroom…right inside your trailer.  We have designed a number of awesome bathroom packages to fit anybody’s needs.  If you want to keep it simple, the S1 or S2 bathroom package added to your tag trailer is the perfect way to go.  The wedge nose design maximizes your trailer storage space, and you can even add a shower with the S3 bathroom trailer package.  Another extremely popular option we offer is the GN3 Walkaround Bathroom trailer.  This design, available on all of our gooseneck trailers, has the bathroom tucked up against the riser wall and still leaves room for stairs leading up to the bunk. Our racer customers love this floorplan for the track…it leaves plenty of room in the garage for your cars and provides quick and easy bathroom access.  You can use the restroom and even wash up, right there in the comfort and privacy of your own trailer.  Oh, and did I mention that the GN3 comes with your choice of oak or aluminum cabinets, 12V sconce lights, RV style toilet, medicine cabinet with mirror, and glass shower door?  Ladies, trust me, this is a classy addition to your trailer…and gentlemen, need I tell you how happy this will make the women in your life?  Of course, we also offer these bathroom packages on our custom trailers – they are an excellent addition to any mobile office or lab trailers, command centers, and even kitchen/vending trailers.  Yes, once again, we take care of all your needs here at ATC and Motiv…even the ones that aren’t often talked about!
